Today we present Lotus Vrijma, the founder of Avnea, a conscious community of travelers and nomads, and the co-founder of Athens Nomad Fest!

Lotus is a traveler from the Netherlands, who embarked on her nomadic journey four years ago, driven by her belief in a different way of living.
Fueled by a passion for community and connection, she founded Avnea, a company dedicated to curating retreats for remote professionals. Lotus's vision is to foster genuine connections, believing that life's essence lies in the communities we build.

Lotus's adventurous spirit has taken her to over 70 countries, where she has embraced diverse cultures and languages. Her experiences with the richness of human cultures made her realize that communities are at the heart of our lives.
With this understanding, she channeled her entrepreneurial spirit into initiatives that bring nomads to local villages, helping them reconnect, grow, and positively impact the communities that host them.
First with week-long retreats, then with longer popup coliving (usually on sunny islands) her projects, like the one in Crete this autumn, aim to bridge the gap between modern remote workers and traditional communities with one goal in mind: to foster the mutual growth and understanding that many conscious nomads seek on their journey around this planet.
Furthermore, it is through the connections made in the digital nomad community that she co-founded her latest venture, the largest digital nomad fest in Athens, set to take place at the end of September.
At the Retreat Academy, she will share her first-hand knowledge on how to build a strong community and why it's so important for a successful retreat. Having hosted hundreds of people around the world, we couldn't wish for a more experienced leader to talk about this topic!
When she's not online (likely in "airplane mode") or facilitating her retreats, Lotus loves connecting people through the universal language of music as a DJ, to bring joy and unity wherever she goes (spoiler: are you ready to shake your booty at the Retreat Academy?) 🪩.
